A knock on the cubicle wall interrupted my reading a few hours later. I turned to see Nikos smiling at me as he leaned in, his jacket draped over his arm. "Could I persuade you to take a break for some lunch?"

Luke Skywalker entered my world at a quiet time of life. My father's mines, confiscated by the Empire, had been returned to him and I'd been able to go to Darnell University, the largest on our home planet Calum. I'd finished my degree only months before and been hired onto Councilor Stanis's staff as a budget analyst. Calum was settling into a quiet democratic system with its third election cycle approaching and no violence attending it, unlike many other planets in the New Republic. There hadn't even been any major storm damage to the city domes over the last year. I was engaged to be married, my parents were getting along and I was fairly happy. I thought I had everything I wanted.

Considering all of this, I couldn't understand why his invitation to leave everything behind was so compelling.

One might think that upon meeting Luke Skywalker, you would first notice a sense of power, or how young he is for such a well-known figure. Particularly when surrounded by powerful people in a beautifully decorated hall, with bright lights shining and music playing, one could expect the meeting to be overwhelming.

But my first thought was, He's shorter than I expected.
